GOD’S REMEDY FOR LIFE’S PROBLEMS…

Psalm 121:1 – “I will lift up my eyes to the hills — From whence comes my help?”  NKJV

I love working with wood and creating things although I am not as proficient as I’d like to be in the area of finish work.  There are times I see what needs to be done but lack the skills to efficiently perform the required task and that is troubling.  I am always impressed and appreciative of fine craftsmanship and sometimes stand in wonder as the various stages of carpentry take place and begin to see the finished product.  That is exciting for me.

When I consider things like the Pyramids of Egypt I realize they are an architectural wonder and were erected in a time when most would consider primitive. Every rock fits perfectly and withstands the ravages of time.  Each of those stones had to be hewn to do a specific and special job.  No rock, once chiseled could fit into any other position or location.  That is fascinating!

That brings me to a TRUTH that is inspirational and has been beneficial in my walk as a Christian.  I am convinced that is exactly what God wants for His children.  He is anxious to fit us into His Church as Living Stones and put us in the unique place and position He has chosen for us and in that position, we perform a vital service that no other stone provides.  We read in Ephesians 2:19-22 – “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”    Please pay particular attention to verse 21 – “In whom the whole building, being fitted together is growing into a holy temple in the Lord…”  WHAT?  A building growing?  How can that be?  In the natural with natural stones, it would be impossible but we are LIVING STONES and God’s Building, His Body, His Church is always growing because it is alive!

When you consider the stones of the Pyramids or other buildings you find, big stones, small stones, odd shaped stones, perfectly square or rectangular stones, hard stones, and soft stones.  Simply, VARIETY.  All types are needed, providing they FIT TOGETHER and are placed in the proper place in the building.  That is incredible and should be inspiring that God, the Master Builder would order the stone masons to chip away at each rock or stone UNTIL he makes it a PERFECT FIT.  That’s what God is doing in your life.  He is chipping away those things that keep you from being a perfect fit. That’s not always comfortable or pleasant but necessary.

In the natural, the stones never resist being placed in their chosen position. They do not have mind, will, and emotion and cannot rebel, but in the spiritual, WE CAN and too often WE DO.  In God’s building, every stone must become content where it or they are placed.  The little stones must become satisfied to fill the gap he/she was chosen to fill.  The big stones must be willing to endure the stress and pressure by being responsible for the support of others. The odd shaped stones must learn patience in waiting for the perfect spot to be placed.  But, know that the LORD has chosen that perfect spot for you and desires to fitly frame us and ‘fit us together’ so that we complete His building and provide the service and function to which we were called.  In a large building, some stones are not visible because they are in the foundation and hidden from view. I would suggest that the intercessors are just such stones.  The problem is that too often we want a more supposedly prominent position and many insist on being the cornerstone.  Without the proper cornerstone, the building would collapse but that place is reserved for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dissatisfaction is a problem in today’s world and church.  I saw a report some years ago that indicated the reason for the high turnover ratio in the business world was directly connected to dissatisfaction.  That research indicated that 80% of people with full-time jobs were dissatisfied with their job.  Going into the full details would be too time-consuming but the bottom line is people are not just dissatisfied with their jobs they are dissatisfied with their lives.  Some want to do more, some less, and some are in a never-ending search for that perfect place, perfect job, perfect home, or perfect mate.  If that were only a problem in the secular world it would be bad enough but it is also prevalent in the church.  Many Christians never develop a clear picture of what their purpose in life is and become frustrated.

There is a remedy!  In a nutshell, it is coming to grips with God’s will for your life.  It is learning to be content with God’s purpose and plan and realize that it does not matter if we are called to be big stones, little stones, or odd shaped stones our purpose is to Glorify Him and Manifest Him to the world.  We are truly epistles that are known and read by men and we should desire that the story of our life is JESUS and Him Crucified, Resurrected, and Ascended. He is the Way, the Truth, the Life, and the Door to God.

I want to delve into this a little more but will pause here and pick up next time on God’s Remedy for Life’s Problems.  Blessings abundantly as you walk in Him today!
